Charles Eugene “Chip” Roy is an American attorney and Republican politician who has represented Texas’s 21st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 3, 2019. Before Congress, he served in roles including chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and first assistant attorney general of Texas, and he worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Texas. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
