David Mayes Middleton II is a Republican Texas state senator representing Senate District 11, first taking office in January 2023 after serving two terms in the Texas House (2019–2023). He is an oil and gas businessman, attorney, and president of Middleton Oil Company, and he has also run ranching, cattle, and farming operations. He earned a B.A. in finance and a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and has been licensed to practice law since 2008. He is running for Texas Attorney General in the 2026 election cycle.
